Nesse, Terneuzen
In de tuin van Nesse nodigen we garden residents uit om mee na te denken over de tuin en nieuwe vormen van kennis toe te voegen. Eén van hen is colectiva Maleza, bestaande uit onder andere Dayana Corzo Joya en Marta Meers.
Maleza, Spaans voor onkruid, struikgewas of ondergroei, verwijst naar wat spontaan groeit buiten controle. Vanuit een gedeelde praktijk rond collectieve zorg, ecologische vragen, en milieurechtvaardigheid groeide Maleza uit tot een netwerk van activiteiten, projecten en kennisuitwisseling. Met een ecofeministische en activistische blik ontwikkelen Dayana en Marta workshops en artistieke interventies op het kruispunt van kunst, ecologie, gemeenschap en verzet. Maleza is zowel een collectieve artistieke praktijk als een levend kennisnetwerk.
Op donderdag 9 april organiseert Maleza een hands-on workshop rond mycelium als biomateriaal. Samen creëren we een ruimte om na te denken over PFAS-vervuiling in onze omgeving, en hoe we samen opnieuw grip kunnen krijgen op wat er met onze bodem gebeurt.
Tijdens de workshop ontwikkelen we gezamenlijk myceliumcinema-schermen en onderzoeken we hoe bioremediatie en communal cinema een plek kunnen worden voor zorg en verzet. Het programma bestaat uit de screening van '(Y)Our salad grew in a scandal', een gezamenlijke werksessie rond het bouwen van myceliumcinema-schermen, en we sluiten het programma af met een gezellige lunch.
De schermen die we maken worden later gepresenteerd tijdens Antwerp Art Weekend 2026, in de context van de PFAS-vervuiling die zowel Antwerpen als Zeeland heeft getroffen.

Within the garden at Nesse, we invite garden residents to contribute to the development of the space and to introduce new forms of knowledge. One of these residents is colectiva Maleza, including Dayana Corzo Joya and Marta Meers.
Maleza, Spanish for weeds, shrubbery or undergrowth, refers to what grows spontaneously beyond control. Emerging from a shared practice centred on collective care, ecological questions and environmental justice, Maleza has developed into a network of activities, projects and knowledge exchange. With an ecofeminist and activist perspective, Dayana and Marta create workshops and artistic interventions at the intersection of art, ecology, community and resistance. Maleza functions both as a collective artistic practice and as a living knowledge network.
On Thursday 9 April, Maleza will organise a hands-on workshop exploring mycelium as a biomaterial. Together, we will create a space to reflect on PFAS pollution in our environment and consider how we might collectively regain agency over what happens to our soil.
During the workshop, participants will collaboratively develop mycelium cinema screens and explore how bioremediation and communal cinema can become sites of care and resistance. The programme includes a screening of ‘(Y)Our Salad Grew in a Scandal’, a collective working session focused on building mycelium cinema screens, and concludes with a shared lunch.
The screens developed during the workshop will later be presented during Antwerp Art Weekend 2026, in the context of PFAS pollution affecting both Antwerp and Zeeland.
