Sadrie Alves, Kate Ruck en Gohar Martirosyan
07.09.2026 - 26.09.2026
We are delighted to welcome Sadrie Alves, Kate Ruck, and Gohar Martirosyan for a short track residency at Nesse in September. Under the programme line Learning from the Stream, the three artists will develop their collaborative project Provisional Grounds, supported by Culture Moves Europe.
Taking the Dutch polder, and the landscape of Zeeland specifically, as engineered land shaped by centuries of human effort, the artists explore questions of inaccessible geographies, reconstructed memory, and acts of maintenance. Their own migratory bodies carry the shifting presence and absence of landscapes, echoed in their friendship, nourished across time and distance. Here, they approach the land as a provisional ground for making.
Sadrie Alves (Antwerp, BE) works across visual arts and performance, including paper, video, textiles, and sculpture, through a site-responsive, autofictional practice touching on ecological transformation and obscured histories. She was recently in residence at Jester (BE) and Residency Unlimited (US), and was a POMONA Art Fund laureate in 2024.
Kate Ruck (Helsinki, FI) works across sculpture, installation, textiles, and text, often collaboratively, exploring what sits beside a narrative: companion, footnote, echo. She holds an MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki, and has been in residence at MORPHO (BE) and Factum Arte (ES). Supported by the Kone Foundation, Finnish Cultural Foundation, and Culture Moves Europe.
Gohar Martirosyan (Paris, FR) is an Armenian filmmaker, researcher, and media artist whose work draws on collected testimonies, with landscape as protagonist reflecting memory and identity. She studied at Le Fresnoy and was awarded the Art Éco-Conception Prize at Palais de Tokyo (2025), among others.
