Van 14 tot 17 mei presenteert Charlotte Daniëlse the earthworm/digging i did in het M HKA tijdens Antwerp Art Weekend.
Een overschot aan stikstof verzuurt en oversatureert de bodem, met een drastische achteruitgang van biodiversiteit als gevolg. Charlotte Daniëlse biedt met het werk the earthworm/digging i did een ander perspectief op stikstofoverschot van onderop: de wereld zoals ervaren door een aardworm.
Het stikstofvraagstuk in Europa vormde het vertrekpunt van het werk van Charlotte Daniëlse, met de casus Zeeland als uitgangspunt. Het werk werd gerealiseerd in Nesse tijdens een residentie gefinancierd door het stikstof-team van de Provincie Zeeland, en is ontwikkeld binnen de context van de Antwerp Art Graduation Prize, die Charlotte vorig jaar won voor haar afstudeerwerk aan De Academie in Antwerpen. Een tweede iteratie van het werk is te zien in het najaar van 2026 in Zeeland.
Charlotte Daniëlse leeft en werkt in de Lage Landen. In haar praktijk bevraagt ze het gebruik van taal als communicatiemiddel, met aandacht voor pre-verbale narratieven, intuïtie, verbinding en subjectiviteit. Ze onderzoekt hoe we onze innerlijke werelden vormgeven en verkent de spanning tussen wat gezegd kan worden en wat onzegbaar blijft, in een wereld vol ruis en absurditeit.

From 14 to 17 May, Charlotte Daniëlse presents the earthworm/digging i did at M HKA as part of Antwerp Art Weekend.
An excess of nitrogen acidifies and oversaturates the soil, resulting in a drastic decline in biodiversity. With the earthworm / digging i did, Charlotte Daniëlse offers a different perspective on nitrogen surplus from below: the world as experienced by an earthworm.
The nitrogen crisis in Europe formed the point of departure for Charlotte Daniëlse's work, with Zeeland as its case study. The work was realised at Nesse during a residency funded by the nitrogen team of the Province of Zeeland, and developed within the context of the Antwerp Art Graduation Prize, which Charlotte won last year for her graduation work at De Academie in Antwerp. A second iteration of the work will be presented in Zeeland in autumn 2026.
Charlotte Daniëlse lives and works in the Low Countries. In her practice she questions the use of language as a means of communication, with attention to pre-verbal narratives, intuition, connection and subjectivity. She investigates how we shape our inner worlds and explores the tension between what can be said and what remains unsayable, in a world full of noise and absurdity.
